Portrait of an Artist

Portrait of an artist is a short documentary which celebrates 40 years of the “Portrait Artist of the Year” award, an annual competition which has been running at the National Portrait Gallery since 1980. The film explores the hidden talent, cultural narratives and intimate relationships between artists and sitters.

The excerpt above shows part of Miseon’s story. A Korean artist who suffered a crisis of confidence in her early 20s and as a result didn’t pick up her paint brushes for over two decades.

The feature documentary is available to watch on Amazon Prime.
